Techniques on Tuesday: Thumping

This technique is a simple and fun technique that gives you a marbled look to your stamped image. You can use more than one colour to create this look and works well with any solid stamp image. I have used the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley for both of my card samples today. This is a returning product in the upcoming August – December Mini Catalogue 2020. Although it is predominantly a Christmas suite it can be used for any celebration.

Most Wonderful Time Product Medley – STAMP WITH BRIAN

Supplies you will need: Ink Pads and Stampin’ Write Markers, a solid stamp image and card stock.

Celebrating Your Day card

Step by Step Instructions
  • First stamp your solid image stamp into a light coloured ink pad. I have used Seaside Spray here.
  • Select the coloured Stampin’ Write marker you wish to use. I have used Just Jade, Misty moonlight and Highland Heather.
  • Using the brush end of your marker gently tap onto your inked stamp. This is called the Thumping Technique. NOTE: Use the side of your brush rather than the tip to prevent and damage to your marker. Make sure you thump/tap all your colours onto your image before moving onto the next step.
  • Give your stamped and thumped image a huff to re-moisten the ink before stamping onto your card stock.
  • To finish the card, I Gold embossed the ribbon and stamped my greeting.

O Christmas Tree card

Step by Step Instructions
  • First stamp your solid image stamp into a light coloured ink pad. I have used Just Jade here.
  • Select the coloured Stampin’ Write marker you wish to use. I have used Pretty Peacock here
  • Using the brush end of your marker gently tap onto your inked stamp.
  • I have stamped off the four background trees after applying the thumping technique. Then stamp the fifth tree directly onto a scrap piece of card stock and die cut it out. Then adhered with dimensionals to make it the focal point.
Variations for this card
  • You can step up your card by adding more layers and embellishments as well as Gold embossing the sentiment.
